It’s National Volunteer Week – how are you making a world of difference?

Monday, 13 May 2019

This National Volunteer Week EPIC is celebrating the generous contributions of volunteers who are making the world a more inclusive and accepting place for people with disability.

National Volunteer Week (20-26 May 2019) is a great opportunity to say thank you to the 6 million Australians who open their hearts and volunteer each year. This year’s 30th celebration of National Volunteer Week is all about making a world of difference, and represents the real impact volunteers have in fostering inclusive and diverse communities.

EPIC’s Ambassador Program – making a difference to the lives of people with disability

Our dedicated team of volunteers – or EPIC Ambassadors – are supporting our job seekers to be successful in their workplaces. Our Ambassadors use their talents, skills and passions in a number of roles across our organisation. From providing on-the-job support, to spreading the word on EPIC at events and conferences, our ambassadors are sparking positive change in the community through their words, actions, and understanding.

As direct influencers in driving inclusion and diversity within their community, they provide the support our participants need to feel confident and capable in their roles. Through their dedication and compassion, our Ambassadors build stronger connections between people with disability and their peers.

If you’re keen to set a volunteering resolution this National Volunteer Week, why not consider becoming an EPIC Ambassador? You will be joining a committed and dedicated group of individuals and will become a valued member of the EPIC team – that’s around 400 people working towards the same goal!

As an EPIC Ambassador you will see firsthand the impact meaningful employment has on the lives of people with disability, their families, loved ones, and their community. You will be rewarded with life-long friendships, and develop a greater understanding of diversity and inclusion.

EPIC’s Community Grants program – supporting the communities that support us

This National Volunteer Week we’re also celebrating the community and volunteer-led organisations that support EPIC.

Giving back to our local communities is something that we’re particularly committed to. Over the last year, we have been proud to support non-profit and volunteer based community groups through our community grants program.

We have heard incredible stories from volunteers who help children with disability ride the waves, feed the homeless, empower girls with autism, and encourage people with disability to get back to nature.

If you know of a community group committed to improving the lives of people with disability, why not think about nominating them for an EPIC Community Grant?

Happy National Volunteer Week to all volunteers

On behalf of the entire EPIC team we extend a big thank you to all volunteers – to those who support EPIC through our Ambassador program, and to all other volunteers who are working to make the world a more inclusive and accepting place.

Through their generous gift of time and expertise they are indeed making the world a better place.

Make sure you take the time this National Volunteer Week to celebrate these wonderful people who give back to the community.
