They may have only just graduated, but it’s clear that this is just the beginning for four EPIC Assist (EPIC) job seekers who are on their way to realising their career dreams.
Graduates Renee, Jason, Portia, and Russel recently completed 8 weeks of training and work experience at the Queensland Children’s Hospital towards their Certificate III in Cleaning and Operations. For Renee, this training is just the start of an exciting career journey.
“This degree has already opened up so many opportunities for me,” says Renee.
“Personally, I’ve grown more positive and learnt how to stay in control when I start to panic. Every morning, I was excited to get up and go to my training.
“There’s still so much more I want to learn. I’ve loved the whole experience.”
Throughout the course, the trainees rotated around different areas of the hospital, gaining practical experience in a wide range of tasks and jobs. One of the graduates, Portia, has already landed a job at the hospital, and the others aren’t far off.
Jason is keen to get straight back into work and start saving money. For him, the personalised support is what made the course so successful.
“The trainer was always happy for us to come in early or stay late if we wanted any extra help. She’s just the best. She really supported and looked after us the whole way,” says Jason.
Natalie Hall, a Corporate Account Manager at EPIC, says that the course is a great example of how practical and well-matched training can completely transform a person’s life.
“At EPIC, we’re passionate about providing practical training experiences that support our job seekers’ goals,” says Natalie.
“I did a lot of research to find the right RTO (Registered Training Organisation) and course for our trainees. The way the trainer delivered the content with understanding and patience shows just how well she understood our job seekers’ needs.
“Our ultimate goal is sustainable employment, and I have no doubt that the skills and experience they’ve gained in this course will guide them for the rest of their career.”
